What I help with
About me
Welcome. I am an experienced counsellor and therapist with a particular interest in men’s development and male psychology. I also have years of experience in university teaching and research, bringing curiosity, warmth and rigour to my work. I graduated from Oxford with a degree in Psychology, Philosophy and Physiology. After short spells in catering, sales, and financial sectors, I did my doctorate in Psychology and lectured in the subject for 27 years. I have led fixed duration and ongoing development groups for men.
My approach with men
I use a Gestalt approach to enquire precisely yet gently into your present experience. Through experiential and embodied methods, we clarify your unique subjectivity, values and lifeworld. Together, we develop greater awareness, explore new possibilities, and build foundations for different ways of being. No matter what has brought you here, you have already begun. You have reached the shoreline, boundary between known and unknown. Counselling gives a space and a structure to continue. Psychotherapy, if desired, is the other shore.
How we get started
Your first session is a chance to talk about what has brought you to therapy, and the change you desire in your life. We’ll explore what is significant for you, at your pace, and begin to see whether working together feels right. There’s no need to work it all out beforehand. Simply come as you are.
