What I help with
About me
I used to work as a Solicitor before deciding a few years ago to train as a Psycotherapist/Counsellor. I had been fortunate to have had counselling from a wonderful therapist twice during difficult times in my life. His calm, empathic approach helped me enormously and inspired me to make that change in career. I worked for a number of years as a bereavement counsellor in a local hospice and loss of all kinds is a feature in much of my work. I am also a counsellor for a charity that helps those working in the Arts and I have a private practice in the heart of Maidstone in Kent.
My approach with men
Most of my clients are men who were looking specifically for a male counsellor. And most of them initially found it very strange to sit down and talk to another man about their 'feelings'. This worry soon passed however as the benefit of sharing problems began to be felt. I’m an integrative counsellor which means I draw on a number of counselling theories, using the ones that are most suitable and beneficial. My overriding aim is to build a therapeutic relationship that is caring and non-judgmental. I will work alongside you and help you through whatever it is that brings you to counselling.
How we get started
I offer an initial free 15 minute consultation. Call or email me to schedule this. Thereafter, if we both feel we are a good fit to continue, sessions last 50 minutes and cost £50
