What I help with

About me

I’m Dom McMurray, a qualified counsellor who specialises in therapy for men. I offer private counselling sessions both online and in person from my therapy room in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the creative sector. I balanced long hours, deadlines, running a business, and family life. Like many men, I learnt to keep going no matter what. On the surface I was coping. Underneath, not always. I also write as a mental health columnist for Men’s Fitness magazine, where I share insights on stress, resilience, and emotional wellbeing to help more men feel supported.

My approach with men

Many men are reluctant to talk about how they’re really doing. That’s not because men don’t struggle — it’s because we’ve been told to push through, to solve things alone, to stay silent. My counselling service is designed with that in mind. No fluff. No pressure to ‘open up’ before you’re ready. Just a straightforward space to talk, reflect, and start shifting the weight you’re carrying. You will not get textbook phrases or scripted techniques. You will get real conversation and a supportive, down-to-earth approach that meets you where you are.

How we get started

The first few sessions are about forming a therapeutic relationship, building trust and getting a better understanding of what is going on in your life. We look at what brought you here, how your past may be affecting your present, and assess what kind of support you need.
