What I help with
About me
Therapy is an unfolding process of honestly and bravely coming to know oneself. Whether you come to therapy with personal or professional stress, ongoing internal conflict, or other difficulties in life, therapy can be the conduit to greater self-mastery, and in turn, greater freedom. My approach draws primarily from the principles of relational psychoanalysis, with the grounding principle that the source of our difficulties in life is often outside of our awareness, and can be brought into daylight through the relationship between patient and therapist.
My approach with men
In my experience, men often benefit from an approach that combines directness with understanding. Validation and empathy go a long way, but without a willingness to challenge, and a direct invitation to bring challenging emotion into the space, men can often find therapy to be difficult to feel comfortable in. My approach therefore seeks to bring out unexplored and unprocessed emotion through the kindness of pushing the patient to confront themselves.
