What I help with
About me
I'm an NYC based Clinical Social Worker and CASAC-G working with men caught in the cycle of substance use disorder, problem gambling, and associated comorbidities. The hardest part of the struggle isn't as much about what's in the glass or on the screen; it's the quiet shame and exhaustion of keeping up appearances and living by what we thought we were supposed to be as men. Through individual therapy and my Wednesday morning men's group, we pull back the curtain. We dismantle the guilt, let feeling inform behavior, and restore peace of mind.
My approach with men
I work with men exactly where they are, without judgment or rigid agendas. Safe harbor is paramount. My approach blends a deep look at the anxiety, burnout, and unspoken expectations driving the behavior. Men are often taught to compartmentalize pain, which turns substance use and gambling into private survival tools. We dismantle that isolation. By focusing on how emotions drive choices, we shift from white-knuckling abstinence to building sustainable control. It’s about stripping away the shame so you can make decisions aligned with who you actually want to be.
How we get started
Text 646-504-6212 or email me at andrew@addictiontherapynyc.com. We can set aside 15-20 minutes to privately answer any questions and make sure you're comfortable. You should feel like the therapist is timely in their response, professional, easy to talk to and understands what your concerns are.
